THE ANOINTING (Part One)
Prayer Point - Ask the Lord to send the rain of His anointing into your life.
Previous Knowledge - Teacher reviews the previous week's lesson and also examines the students' assignment.
1. Opening

B. Memory Verse - "Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month." Joel 2:23.
C. Lesson Introduction - What is anointing? What are the conditions for maintaining the flow of anointing? May the Comforter teach and bless us in Jesus' Name. Amen.

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to understand what the anointing is. They should also be able to discover the conditions that would make the anointing flow.

ii. Likens the anointing to rain which increases flow of river and water level in the well
iii. Uses Jesus as our perfect example of anointing.
iv. Mentions some uses of anointing in the lives of believers.

C. Text Review - Acts 4:5-20
The anointing did the following in the life of Peter and John:
i. Enabled them stand freely without fear before the Jewish Council, rulers, elders scribes,Annas, Caiaphas, John and Alexander. V. 5-7
ii. Enabled Peter to testify of Jesus in the midst of this dreaded council inviting them to believe in Jesus for their salvation. V, 8-12
iii. The anointing paralysed the mouth of the Council and confused their intellects.
iv. Healed the impotent and made their threats to be useless. V. 22, V. 21.
v. Brought praise to the Lord through the miracle that could not be denied. V.21c
Note - The anointing can work through you too to bring glory to the lord.

i. LESSON OUTLINE 1 - WHAT IS ANOINTING?
Q. What is anointing?
Ai. It is the outflow of the Holy Spirit through a sanctified vessel.
ii. It is enabling grace to do what ordinarily could not have be possible or what others find difficult to do. Acts 4: 5-20
Q. What can the anointing be likened to?
Ai. Rain - Zechariah 10: 1; Joel 2:23.
Q. What does rain do to wells and rivers?
- It increases the level of water in them (well and river) and cause overflow sometimes. Luke4:18-19.
- How is the flow of river similar to the flow of the Holy Spirit?
- The strength of the flow determines what it can carry- the greater the flow the greater the strength. Acts 2:41; Act.4:8-32
- Who is our perfect example in the flow of the anointing?
- A. The Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 10:38
Q. What role does the anointing play in the believers' lives?
Ai. It advertises the believers for the glory of God. Acts 10:38
ii. It produces a life of result and enthrones believers. John 14: 12; I Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6.
iii. The anointing breaks every yoke and demolished mountains. Isaiah 10:27.

ii. LESSON OUTLINE 2 - CONDITIONS FOR MAINTAINING THE FLOW
Q. What are the conditions for maintaining the flow of the anointing?
Ai. The vessel must be sanctified.
ii. The vessel must love righteousness and hate iniquity. Psalm 45:6-7; John 14:30; 2 Cor. 5:21; and Psalm 51:10; I Thess. 2:10; 1 John 3:7
iii. Walk in love for God, church and people. John 11:35; John 11:4344; Mark 6:34-44
iv. Live a life of praise to God and not that of complaints and murmuring. Josh.5:6.
Class Activity 2 - What do you think can stop the flow of the anointing?
Summary: Believers used the flow of the anointing to increase the operation of Holy Spirit in their lives.
Conclusion: All true believers that want to succeed in the pilgrim's way must equally desire ever- flowing anointing. The Kingdom of God is not in words but in the demonstration of the Spirit and power. Samuel was a highly anointed man of God that did not allow any of his words to fall to the ground -I Samuel 3:19. Pray for your anointing now in Jesus' name. Amen.

C. Lesson Introduction - Last week, we examined in this series the fact that anointing is the divine enabling grace, otherwise referred to as RAIN-POWER. This Rain Power comes about after repeated in-filling with the Holy Spirit whose continuous flow is dependent on certain conditions including love for righteousness, hatred for iniquity, walking in love and living a life of praise. May the Comforter Himself teach us and bless us more as we continue with the series in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Summary: Both the gateway and qualifications for the anointing combine to produce greater effects of the anointing.
Conclusion: Brethren, do not rest when you should be doing exploit for God. As the Lord satisfied the thirst for anointing of David, He can do likewise for you. Do not write off yourself but come before God as you are and be sure He will satisfy you in Jesus' name. Amen.

C. Lesson Introduction – Last week’s study emphasized the gateway to anointing, who qualifies for it and the effects on the recipients. Hopefully, we must be flowing in anointing by now, rich enough to prepare us for battles and assure to us of victories. May the Comforter continue to enrich our spirit man in Jesus’ name. Amen.

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to discover the role of the anointing in achieving victory in warfare.

- Text Review – Romans 8:35-39
i. Apostles Paul identified about 17 different battles which a believer may likely face in his quest to enter the kingdom of God. V.35 contains 7; verse 38, contains 7 and verse 39 contains 3
ii. He called our attention to the possibility of the "positives" preventing as well as the "negatives" e.g life (positive) "death" (negative) "height" or "depth" etc. Verse 38-39 which are capable of preventing us from the kingdom.
Hi. Both the positives and the negatives should be confronted in the same strength because they can defeat or even kill believers. V.36
iv. He, however, gave us the ready assurance of victory through Christ that loves us. V.37

i. LESSON OUTLINE 1 -ANOINTING FOR WARFARE
i. All believers are involved in spiritual warfare. Eph. 6: 1 0-12
ii. In these battles, the Lord is present to enable the Christian warrior win the battles. Psalm 24:8
Hi. A Christian warrior confronts battle through the following instruments:
A. Instrument of the word of God.
i. The spoken word full of the anointing puts the devil under the feet of the believer. Daniel 11 :32, John 8:32
ii. The spoken words are sharp and quick and capable of making way of escape for believers. Matt 28:20; I John 4:4, Prov. 24:5
iii. The spoken word which is full of anointing helped the following warriors in the Bible to win victories:
- David defeated the dreaded Goliath. I Samuel 17: 36-37
- Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego defeated Nebuchadnezzar- Daniel 3:16-18
- Daniel survived the lion's den. Daniel 6:21-22
- Paul and Silas triumphed over prison. Acts 16: 25-29
B. lnstrument of confidence (faith) in the Lord.
a. Confidence in the Lord helps to overcome the power of fear. Job 3:25; Psalm 125:1-3
b. The following factors help to build confidence in the Lord. i. Righteousness. II Corinthians 5:21
ii. Ever abiding in the presence of the Lord. Matt. 28:2
iii. Trust in the name of the Lord Jesus. Phil 2:9-11
iv. Faith in ever abiding presence of the Lord. Matt 28:2
v. Faith in the power in the voice of the Lord. Psalm 29:5
Class Activity 1 - Students should recount how either the spoken word or confidence in Lord had produced victories for them in their different battles.
ii. LESSON OUTLINE 2· ANOINTING FOR VICTORY
- Whenever Samson was filled with the Holy Spirit (anointing), victory was sure. Judges 14:19
- Through the anointing, David fought and won all his battles. I Samuel 16:3
- The Lord Jesus, through the anointing, won many battles numerous to count. For instance:
i. He conquered the work of Satan. I John 3:8
ii. He conquered the host of hell. Mark. 1:24
iii. He conquered storm and seas. Matt. 8:27
iv. He conquered death. Luke 7:14; John 11:43
v. He conquered physical assailants. John 18:3-6
- The tribe of Judah won their battles through the anointing. Genesis49: 8-12
- Believers can be more than conqueror through the anointing. Rev. 5:5; Eph. 5:8; 2 Cor. 2:14
- Believers can win always when:
- They use the warfare instrument fearlessly.
- They are absolutely obedient to divine instructions. 2 Timothy 1:7; John 8:28.
Class Activity 2 - Students should recall how many spiritual battles they have won through the help of the anointing.
Summary: The more you are anointed, the greater your victories.
Conclusion: Assurance of victory in any battle of life is the promise of the ever-conquering Lord Jesus to every truly born-again Christian. Engage His MIGHT now in whatever battle that is confronting you and obtain your victory.
